Meigetsuin (Ajisai Temple)
The temple is famous for having thousands of hydrangeas bloom in abundance during the summer. Meigetsuin was added in the early Muromachi period as a sub-temple of Zenkoji temple, built by Hojo Tokimune (Zenkokuji temple was later abolished in the early Meiji era). The vibrant colors of the hydrangeas is a spectacle to be seen. However, the temple may be crowded depending on the season.

Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Shrine
It is said that by washing your coins with the water inside the cave on the temple grounds, you will increase your wealth. According to the legend, a god named “Ugafukujin” appeared in Minamoto no Yoritomo’s dream, and described to him the location of a magical spring. Colanders are also provided for washing the coins.

Inside the 16.2 hectare park, you will find nature trails, a large playground area, rivers running from spring water, and old houses from the Edo period. Native plants such as golden-rayed lilies can also be found in the area, as well as wild birds like kingfishers.
※The old houses can be viewed between 9:00 to 16:30 all year round. However, they are closed on Mondays (unless its a public holiday. The following Tuesday will be closed) They are also closed from Dec. 29th~Jan. 3rd.
