Arriving at Oita Station!

Store your luggage at the hotel immediately and start your Oita trip!

Oita station has various express such as Sonic and Nichirin. It takes about 8 minutes walk from Funai Chuo Gate (North Gate) to Hokke Club Oita. Store your luggage first and let’s start your trip.

Beppu・Takegawara onsen

Let’s go to Beppu! Luxuriously immersed in hot springs from the morning!

Oita Prefecture has the most onsens and the largest output of hotspring water in Japan. It takes less than 1 hour from the hotel. When you get to Beppu station, let’s go immediately to the hot spring! Takegawa Onsen was founded in 1879 had a roof of bamboo which was later reconstructed with tile, and this is where the name Takegawara (bamboo tile) came from. The present building constructed in 1938 with a Chinese luxurious gabled roof in front is now a symbol of Beppu Hot Spring. Please also try the famous sand bath in yukata!

Restaurant Toyoken

The restaurant famous for Toriten! Taste the Oita tradition.

This is the first restaurant in Oita Prefecture that was opened in 1926 by the founder who also served the emperor. Moreover, it is famous as a restaurant specializing in Oita specialties and Toriten. Many people gather in order to eat a dish that is crispy on the robe with soft meat and well seasoned.

Let’s visit Beppu attractions! Jigoku-Meguri (Hell tour)!

To the best shooting spot!

Beppu is situated among hundreds of hot springs. The Hells of Beppu are made up of 7 different pools of natural occurring hot springs and are a nationally designated “Place of Scenic Beauty”. Really good place to take photos. One of the more beautiful hells, the “sea hell” features a pond of boiling, blue water.

Oniishi Bozu Jigoku is a gray thermal mud at boiling temperature looks like the bald head of a bouzu or a Buddhist monk. It is located next to the Umi-jigoku. There are also foot bath and onsen “Oniishi no Yu” (charged) inside the area.

Oita Bank Akarengakan

It is a famous building with a dome from the Taisho-roman period.

It is the only Western-style building from the Meiji era that remains in Oita city. It is a building known as the Tatsuno style which made with a red granite brick that was imported from the UK and a white granite belt. It is also registered as a famous cultural place in Japan. The light-up at night is also beautiful.

Oita Castle Ruin Park

Enjoy a refreshing morning walk or jog while watching the tower (Yagura) and the moat

Oita Castle Ruin Park was maintained at the former site of the castle once used to be the Funai castle. The Funai castle was built in 1597 by Naotaka Fukuhara and completed in the Edo period by the Lord of the domain, Shigetoshi Takenaka. The cherry blossoms along the moat is popular, and in 2006, it was certified as one of the 100 famous castles in Japan.

A shop that handles original items produced by OTA flag store with a history of more than 150 years. Made by skilled craftsmen, bags using sashiko with color sail cloth and wallets are highly fashionable items.

Takasakiyama Natural Zoological Garden

The 1,500 wild Japanese monkeys being fed are divided into two groups and come down from the mountain to the feeding area in alternate shifts.

Yusuhara Hachiman-gu

A venerable shrine originally establed in 827 A.D. The main shrine, rebuilt during the Ansei period, and the Nandaimon gate engraved with flowers and birds are both splendid and have been designated as Important Cultrual Properties of Japan. There is also the auspicious Ogishi that makes the prayers and wishes told to it come true.
